Theater Company Auditions

Theater Company is an advanced audition-only musical theater program for actors ready for a more robust production. This progression from Broadway Stars provides an in-depth experience with acting, voice and movement, characterization and general performance skills.

Students entering Grades 4-8 in the Fall are eligible to audition.

Auditions will take place at Rootz Deerfield (7 Waukegan Rd, Deerfield) based on the following schedule:

Monday, May 19: 4-5:30pm

Tuesday, May 20: 4-5:30pm

Wednesday, May 21: 4-5:30pm

You need to attend one of the audition dates. Plan on staying the entire time.

This is a general audition for acceptance into Theater Company. Those that are offered admission into Theater Company will need to audition in the Fall for a specific role in Wizard of Oz during class time, though everyone admitted to the program will be cast in the show.

Dancing: Students will be taught a dance on the day of the audition. Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement and bring water, sneakers and jazz shoes (if they have them).
Singing: Please prepare 30 seconds of a song selection. Songs will be performed acapella (without music) or you are welcome to bring a karaoke track on your phone to play while you sing. This does not need to be from Wizard of Oz. Pick something you are comfortable performing and shows off your voice. It can be from a musical, favorite song, etc.
Acting: Please prepare a monologue that is no longer than 60 seconds. These do NOT need to be memorized. We want to see your personality! If time allows, we will also be playing some theater and improv games. The internet is a great resource for monologues for kids.
