Competition Dance Teams

Competition teams are a serious year-long commitment (August 2025 through May 2026) that allows the dancer to build strength, flexibility, and technique while learning their routine(s) for competition.

Competition Dancers will participate in three competitions during the year as well as two performances at local venues such as Chicago Bulls Game, Christian Heritage Academy and our year-end recital at Genesee Theater.

Not all dancers that audition will be placed on a competition team. However, all dancers that audition will be offered a position on at least one Performance Team.

Competition Team (3rd Grade+)

These Competition Teams will focus on one routine using a single style of dance.
This single style team will practice for 120 minutes once per week with one hour of technique and one hour of choreography.

CORE Competition Teams (2nd Grade+)

CORE Teams will focus on three routines using a combination of Hip Hop, Contemporary, and Jazz.
The CORE teams will practice two times per week for a total of four hours, which includes one hour of technique.
CORE dancers are required to take a Ballet/Acro, Teen Technique or Core Conditioning class

Solo, Duet & Trio Competition (4th Grade+)

These small Competition Teams will focus on one routine using a single style of dance.
The single style teams will practice for 60 minutes once per week.

Deerfield	Ballet & Tap	Combination classes are developed to allow students the opportunity to begin study in both disciplines and create an early foundation in which to build upon. The tap portion provides fast footwork and rhythm through sound. Dancers will learn proper technique, terminology, and movement performed to classic and contemporary music with an emphasis on FUN! Ballet/Tap is designed to be a combination of ballet study and beginning tap sounds and movements, devoting half the time to each on a regular basis.	3.5-5.5 years						12:30-1:20pm

Deerfield	Transitional 2's Ballet	Loved ones and toddlers attend together as they stretch, use props as they dance and learn basic ballet vocabulary. As the session progresses, little ones will begin to execute sections of the class independently. In January, loved ones transition out of the class completely and the little ones will enjoy the Princess Ballet Class for the remainder of the school year.	2-3.5 years					10:30-11:15am
