Theatre Camp

Musical Theatre Camp

Class Day & Time: Monday - Friday, 9am-3pm

Grades: 3 - 8

Our Rootz theatre and dance programs combine this summer to give you: Musical Theatre Camp!  Each session, we will focus on putting on a show and building musical theatre skills with rehearsals, technique classes, and games – all while forming friendships in our beautiful theater and dance studios!  Our passionate camp leaders bring all of the fun of an intensive program while still being inclusive and accepting of beginners and veterans alike.  Each week, with the exception of performance week and the week of July 4th, will include a fun camp event – pool, field trip, or guest artist!

Performances will take place the last Wednesday and Thursday of each session – all campers must be present.  If you are looking for a child-based program that emphasizes process while also producing stellar performances, look no further: Rootz is your theatre destination!

Mini Musicals

Class Day & Time: Monday - Friday, 9am-3pm

Grades: K - 2

This summer, we dive into the wonderful world of musical theatre with adaptations of some our all-time favorite fairy tales!  Every participant will perform in group numbers and have a choice of a solo song of their own or duet with a friend.  The kids will also engage in beginner’s scene study and acting lessons, musical theatre dance and singing.  When not rehearsing, campers will enjoy arts and crafts, games, and building friendships with their fellow cast-members.  Once per session, with the exception of 2nd session when we have off for the 4th of July, we will take a trip to the pool or have a guest artist come in for a theatre-based workshop!  All performances will all take place on the last Friday of the session at 2:00pm – all campers must be present.  We look forward to seeing all of our little performers light up the stage this summer!

Dance Camp

Dance Camp

June 11-15, 9am-3pm -or- August 13-17, 9am-3pm

Ages: 7 - 12

Spend a week dancing and learning how to shine and perform proper technique in ballet, lyrical, hip hop, contemporary, choreography and more! No experience necessary as all styles are taught at a student’s level. Dancers should wear comfortable clothing that will allow for movement, gym shoes, and bring any additional dance shoes based on the preference of the dancer. Dance camp includes other fun activities including arts and crafts, dance history & vocabulary and a field trip. Join us at the end of each week for our showcase for family and friends to see what your dancer worked on during this fun camp.

Dance Party Camp

August 20-24, 9am-12pm

Ages: 3.5 - 6

Come party with us!  Dancers will learn great hip hop routines,  play dance games and work on a craft during this fun movement camp.  Family and friends are invited to our end of week showcase to watch all the amazing new moves your dancer has perfected!

Princess Ballet / Tot Hop Camp

Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Fridays, June 18-Aug 10, 9:30am-11:30am

Ages: 2.5 - 3.5

This summer we are offering an exciting class/camp for our tiny dancers. Once a week we will meet for two hours where we will get to explore different activities. The students will still get the traditional Princess Ballet class, but they will also get to do a princess craft, hear a princess story & then act it out as well! We will have a 10 minute snack / water break to be certain that everyone has plenty of energy for all of the fun. We will then switch into our gym shoes and shake it in TOT HOP!  This is a drop off class/camp! Dancers do not need to be potty trained. We just ask that you come back if there is a need for a diaper change.

Curious how to make your own baked goods, crackers, and pastries from scratch? Aspiring bakers who love to get their hands dirty in the kitchen will love our Basic Training Baking Boot Camp! Young chefs will learn the basics of scratch baking everything from breads, to fresh pastas, to muffins, to cookies, and more! While we will bake using our portable cooking tools in class, all recipes can be recreated at home in your oven for more baking fun! Young chefs will love creating sweet and savory baked goods in this tasty, fun camp!

STEAM Creation Lab (6/18-6/22 -or- 7/30-8/3):

Cooking and science are a match made in…the kitchen! Come join our STEAM camp to explore the many connections between cooking and Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math! We’ll be adding spice, subtracting boredom, and multiplying the fun to create culinary masterpieces. Young chefs will not only create delectable dishes and but also conduct experiments with edible ingredients in this fascinating and delicious camp.

COOKS + BOOKS: Children’s Literature + Cooking Camp (6/25-6/29):

Let your favorite books come to life in our delicious and delectable recipes! Love to read as much as you love to cook? In this fun camp, we’ll read some of our favorite books and cook up recipes inspired by those stories. Some books will include: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, the Harry Potter series, and Thelonius Monster’s Sky-High Fly Pie. Young chefs will bring their imagination to life in this hands-on literary and culinary experience!

‘Kids Cooking Network’ Camp (7/9-7/13 -or- 8/6-8/10):

Do your young chefs love watching cooking shows on TV? In this exciting camp, young chefs will work together in cooking challenges inspired from favorite cooking TV shows such as Master Chef Jr, Cupcake Wars, Chopped Jr, and Cutthroat Kitchen! We will learn how to use different cooking equipment and techniques, explore flavor pairing, and create tasty mouthwatering recipes from scratch each day. Young chefs will get their creative juices flowing in this awesomely fun and delicious cooking adventure!

Global Flavors Cooking Camp (7/16-7/20):

Cook your way around the world with our international cooking camp! What better way to explore another culture than through its food? In this delicious camp, young chefs will cook recipes from countries all around the globe and explore customs, songs, geography, and languages associated with each recipe. Young chefs will cook and gobble up tasty, healthy cuisine from South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia!

Basic Training Baking Boot Camp (7/23-7/27):

Fashion Camp

Ciao Bella Fashion Camps

Class Day & Time: Monday - Friday, 9am-3pm

Grades: 2 - 6

No experience necessary for this fun week long camp for budding fashionistas. This camp will be filled with lots of sewing, camp games, one local field trip to Nickel City and a Fashion Show on the last day of the camp. This camp will be led by two Ciao Bella Sewing instructors. We provide all supplies, including fabric, sewing notions, hand sewing supplies and sewing machines.  It is SEW much fun to create and sew! Students can bring their own sewing machines or use ones provided. Students should bring their own lunch daily.

 

7/16-7/20 Beach Collection Fashion Design: Get ready for summer! We will make items such as skirts, beach bags, dresses and more!

7/23-7/27 Project Runway Fashion Camp: We will learn the ins and outs of the sewing machine, pattern production and working under timelines. Similar to the hit series, Project Runway, we will work on various sewing projects throughout the week

7/30-8/3 Beach Collection Fashion Design & Sewing Camp: Get ready for summer! We will make items such as skirts, beach bags, dresses and more!

8/6-8/10 Fashion Design and Construction Sewing Camp: Learn the foundations of fashion design and construction. This is a great class for young fashion designers to learn about fashion design and then implement their designs by sewing clothing. We will learn how to draw fashion figures via the traditional croquis style. We will also cover the sewing machine and create several items inspired by student’s designs.

Before Care for Summer Camp

Class Day & Time: Monday - Friday, 7:45am until camp begins

Ages: 4 - 14

Before Care is the early morning child care program at Rootz serving campers ages 4 through 14. Drop off any time after 7:45am and we will make sure your child is escorted to their camp program at the start of their camp day. Before Care is a fun, well-supervised start to your child’s camp day! 

We are happy to offer before care to Banner Day Camp campers.  Register for Banner Day Camp here.  You will need to register for Before Care through the Rootz website.

Ages: 5 - 14

After Care is the after camp child care program at Rootz serving campers entering Kindergarten through 8th grade. We will make sure your child is escorted from their camp program at the end of their camp day. Pick up any time before 5:30 pm (Monday-Thursday) and by 5:00pm on Fridays. After Care is a fun, well-supervised end to your child’s camp day!

We are happy to offer after care to Game On! Sports 4 Girls campers.  Register for Game On! Camp here.  You will need to register for After Care through the Rootz website.
